Bogø Dam, Nordfyn. 16 kilometers.
There are many beautiful places on North Funen, but you will find one of the most beautiful at Otterup Marina on Bogø.
If you get up early – really early, there will be a perfect opportunity to enjoy the sunrise over the Odense Fjord – and the area is also perfect for a champagne brunch.
After parking the car at Otterup Marina, we went out to the tip of the harbor to enjoy breakfast and coffee with a view of the water. We were also greeted by Per, who was just out for a walk with his dog, Ludvig.
After breakfast, the trip starts at the Bågø dam, from where, in clear weather, there is a view of both pylons on the Storebælt bridge. At the end of the long dirt road, we turn right towards the estate Hofmansgave, where we of course take a detour into the park to see Denmark's Potato Museum. The park contains a rich variety of plants and trees, which have been brought home from all over the world. The tour around the garden ends in front of "Det Norske hus" from where there is a beautiful view of the Odense Fjord.
We hike out of the park by the breeding houses down the dirt road. We have Odense Fjord on our right side and the fields on the left. We follow the biking lane to Enebærodde beach, where we are met by perfect spot for our coffee. We turn left and follow the coast for the next 3 kilometers. We hike on the embankment and enjoy the many beautiful houses on one side and the coast on the other.
When we reach Hasmark beach we take a turn down Strandvejen and hike past Hasmark Beach Camping. We take a left down the first road - Gravemaen - and follow this road for nearly 2 kilometers until we can make a turn down Østerballevej. This road leads us past Hasmark Kirke, which was built by one of the owners of Hofmansgave.
We continue until we turn down Møllestranden, which we follow until we can turn onto Sønderbyvej. As Sønderbyvej narrows and crosses a brook, we turn left and follow the brook (Which is actually a drainage channel that is still used to drain the reclaimed land to this day day – Yes, we are walking on old seabed!) After a good 2 kilometer along the stream, on a stretch where no grass has been cut and where the trip takes place in tall grass, thistles and nettles, we come back to the Bågø dam. (long trousers are recommended in the summer period). On the other hand, the trip is beautiful with the stream on the left and fields and wetlands on the right. (The trip along the river has previously been used in connection with the implementation of the Kattegat march). We come out at the Bågø dam and can enjoy the trip over the dam back to the car.
The hike is 16 kilometers long but can be shortened.
