Langesø, Morud. 11 km.
South of Morud lies Langesø which is a lake and used by many people and for many different purposes. The vast majority use the Langesø for a walk around the lake itself - a trip of just 3 kilometers. Others again use the forest and the many paths for a ride on a mountain bike on the custom-made routes. For many years we have enjoyed the walk around the lake, but have lacked some length on the hike, which we have now got.
Set the GPS to Langesø, Morud and park the car in the large parking space by the road. From here we chose to hike with the lake on our left side. We follow Sjormarken about 500 meters until the path takes us to the left into the forest and follow lake. The view over the lake is breathtaking, and it is a great place to take some beautiful pictures.
The forest is always changing, and the colors are beautiful all year round - Autumn with its many colors gives the senses an experience, and the beautiful path around the lake offers many different types of wood, and thus also many variations in the colors. After about a kilometer we find a bench out in the water - a really good coffee spot to enjoy the provisions you brought with you.
The hike then continues up the hill to Langesø Chapel which was built in 1870 and is today a favorite wedding church for couples from abroad. We go to the left and now choose to follow the larger marked path that leads us away from the lake and into the forest. We follow this path for about a hundred meters until we can make a right. We now follow the forest road, which goes through both coniferous and deciduous forest.
We continue straight ahead until we can see a building. Here we follow the road to the right and reach Gammel Skolevej which we cross. As soon as we cross the road, we have a view of a lake to our right. The path we walk on has more the character of a tramping path/animal exchange than a real path. (If you wanted to go on the right path, you should have gone right along Gammel Skolevej, and then after just a few meters turned left – now with the lake on your left). The footpath turns onto a MTB track. We now come out to the larger gravel road again and go left until we come to branching paths, where we keep left again. After walking a short 5 kilometers we come out to Blæsbjergvej, where we turn left. After a while on the path, we reach a gravel road and stick to the left. After about 5 kilometers, we reach Blæsbjergvej where we take a left turn.
Blæsbjergvej is a small paved road that winds and meanders through the landscape. We follow this road for about 4 kilometers. There is hardly any traffic, and we enjoy the look of forests and fields. On the way, we pass Røde Mølle, which is an old water mill that was originally used as a grain mill and then a saw mill. The mill is under restoration.
After roughly 9 kilometers we turn left along the biking lane from Odense to Morud. It is a dirt road and is frequently used by bikers, hikers, and horseback riders. We follow the path for about one kilometer and then we take a left down a small path in the forest after which we turn left again along a small forest road, which is also used by a number of mountain bikers. We reach a small hill where we choose to go left down a small alley of trees. By the end of the road, we reach Langesøvej and hike back to our car from here.
The hike is about 11 kilometers long.
